<p>El Palacio de Las Garzas (Heron's Palace) is the official residence of the President of Panama. The building owes its name to the herons that roam freely in the courtyard. These birds were first brought to the palace as a present for president Belisario Porras.</p><p><br>It was built in 1673 and it was used for different purposes prior to 1855, when it became the Presidential Residence. Through the years has been subject to multiple renovations.
